Most of us at some time in our lives have attended a sporting event of one sort or another like football, golf, horse racing or cricket, to name a few.
These events are covered under many rules and regulations such as; Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975, Fire Safety & Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987 and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. All grounds and sporting events will fall under these rules and regulations where spectators are involved and added to these rules and regulations is the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (The Green Guide) that has been introduced for sports grounds in England and Scotland that will soon follow.
With these rules and regulations being set to ensure all spectators attending are protected and safe, as far as reasonably practicable. The training of staff for these events is now more prominent. Yes, I am talking about the staff with ‘yellow jackets and viz vests’ that as Events Stewards ensure your safety and enjoyment and also provide information and assistance at that particular event.
At Orion PS Ltd., we are pleased to now provide in-depth training and certification to the aforementioned standards of this industry to both Level 3 and 2 standards NVQ Spectators Safety, these being open to individuals interested in becoming an Event Steward or companies wishing to have their staff trained to the required standard within the industry. We are at present, working with large employers within the industry in both England and Scotland covering stadiums such as; Ibrox, Pittodrie, Hampden, Tynecastle, Easter Road, McDermid Park in the Premier division and Cappielow, Strathclyde Holmes Stadium, Broadwood, Cliftonhill in the lower divisions.
Other events including T in the Park, concerts and festivals are also covered. This allows potential stewards to see if this is an employment option for either full or part-time work, they might be suited to and also gives them the opportunity to consider if this fast growing industry meets with their individual needs.
For further information or to have a short discussion on the options for both employers or prospective employees, please give us a call or go to our contact page and send us an email.
